If your car has a Gasoline Direct Injected Engine (2011 onwards) 25.06.16

G D I (Gasoiline Directly Injected) VEHICLES     Is my car GDI?    Click  below:    https://www.jlmlubricants.com/blogs/additive-stories/how-do-i-know-if-i-have-a-gdi-engine-in-my-car

AN INCREASING NUMBER OF GASOLINE ENGINED CARS AFTER 2011 ARE Gasoline Direct Injection. THE FOLLOWING IS RECOMMENDED TO HEAD-OFF MORE EXPENSIVE WORK AND THE DOWN TIME:

IF GDI VEHICLES ARE PAST 40,000 MILES Have the GDI Itake Cleaning Service. ASAP.

THERE AFTER, SEMI-ANNUAL OIL SERVICES. and the GDI Cleaning Service every 40,000 miles.  If vehicle is driven as designed to do and at sufficiently long,  GDI Service may not be necessary.

  •  The oil has gotten up to engine temperature for 30 minutes
  • Allow a cold engine to idle for  5 minutes before driving  (prevents crap in the pan from bypassing the filter and being pushed into the precision parts of the crank.and camshafts.

BACK STORY
Pre-1991 GASOLINE fuels were not completely refined (grossly loaded with non-fuel junk) that loaded up the intake and valves with carbon, enough so that if the engine started it would be unable to be driven until fully warmed up. Premium was the cleanest, Regular was the dirtiest. Routine cleaning became a necessity and was sufficient. In 1991 the EPA mandated all gasoline to be clean. Problem solved. Then starting in 2014 or so, rapidly worsening from 2020, the problem was (is) back due we think to increased ethanol. And worsening by the year. Additionally, we have seen an ever increasing occurrence of this "coking" (carbon and synthesized plastics) condition. The more short local drives the sooner the onset. The more advanced the condition, the more difficult to remedy. THE ISSUE IS THAT WHEN Gas Direct Injected (GDI) ENGINES ARE EXPERIENCING ENGINE DRIVABILITY AND OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES, THE DAMAGE LIKELY HAS ALREADY OCCURRED..
The root of it is the degraded motor oil. Starts will moisture collecting in an engine (engines that are not allowed to be fully hot and long enough to evaporate), where combustion gases, sulfur in the fuel work on the viscosity-improvers (liquid plastic) turning it into black plastic bits  Two things happen:  thrashing carries the crap into the Crankcase Ventilation. The crankcase breather system is passing blow-by vapors and the compounds of the broken down oil into the intake hence into the combustion chambers, out of the path of the cleaning action injected fuel .  The injection rams the crapthereby gouging the cylinder walls  ( see video ).  The low temperature of lazy engine allows the accumulation.  Now it's too late. Properly timed oil services will dramatically reduce the cause of this coking condition.

The second thing: The bits get past the filter if the engine speed is raised up with cold thick oil trhereby finding their way int the precision areas of the crank and cam shaft controls.

The high precision of the engine requires a high standard for the lubricating oils.

The oil is not wasted: it is now collected for refinement for other uses.

There was a time when low compression tractor engines were OK with just about anything like an oil. Not now.

See the damage: see the Toyota video elsewhere in these articles.

P.S. We much prefer to keep your engine healthy with a simple service. With the limited time we have, it's the maxim "Do the simple thing to keep from having to do the hard thing."
